Plating - Aluminum Finishes
Plate on Aluminum with Copper, Nickel, Chrome, Solder and
Tin.

Anodize Color
Features:
 | Coloring of an anodized surface may be
achieved by absorbing dyes of any color into the open
pores of the anodized coating before they are closed by
sealing which is part of the normal anodize process.
 | Some dyes provide a permanent fade
resistant color for long lasting outdoor exposure in
architectural applications.
 | Others provide an attractive sales
enhancing decoration for consumer products for indoor use. |
| |
Anodize Hard
MIL-A-8625 Type 3,
AMS 2468, 2469, ASTM-B-580 Type A.
Features:
 | Provides extreme abrasion resistance in
coatings having .0005" to .004" thicknesses.
 | Provides excellent corrosion resistance.
 | Can be color dyed.
 | Can be Teflon impregnated. |
| | |
Anodize Acid - Chromic
MIL-A-8625, Type 1;
AMS 2470; ASTM-B-580, Type G.
Features:
 | For aluminum with copper content below
5%.
 | Thin but has greater abrasion resistant
surface than bare aluminum. (Thicknesses range from
.00005" to .0001".)
 | Very thin but very corrosion resistant
coating.
 | Provides an exceptional base for primers,
bonding agents, and organic coatings.
 | Provides non-reactive surface for metal to
metal contact interfaces such as welded or riveted
assemblies. |
| | | |
Anodize Acid - Sulphuric
MIL-A-8625, Type 2;
AMS 2471, 2472;
ASTM-B-580 Types B, C, D, E, F.
Features:
 | Provides abrasion resistance and can be
readily dyed to many colors and sealed with nickel acetate
or water.
 | Coatings have .0001" to .001"
thicknesses.
 | Excellent corrosion resistance.
 | Enhanced corrosion resistance with yellow
chromate.
 | Super enhanced corrosion resistance with
silicate sealers.
 | Provides excellent base for primers,
bonding agents and organic coatings.
 | Excellent rubber bonding surface if
unsealed. |
| | | | | |
Chromate Conversion Coatings, Clear, Yellow and Seal
MIL-C-5541 Classes 1A & 3;
AMS 2473, 2474, 2475;
ASTM-B-449 Classes 1, 2, 3, 4.
Features:
 | Provides corrosion resistance on aluminum
sheet, extrusions, forgings and aluminum sand or die
castings without anodize or any other pre-coating. |
 | Inexpensive in all applications. |
 | Provides good paint base. |
 | Provides nearly zero electrical
resistance. |
 | Prolongs shelf life and resists staining
and fingerprinting. |
 | Provides super corrosion resistance on
all aluminum products by addition of seal. |
Etch
Features:
 | Controlled chemical modification of the
smooth reflective aluminum surface inherent on extruded
shapes or sheet products can enhance the eye appeal of
aluminum products by etching in an acid or caustic
chemical bath.
 | Masking can be used to provide protection
for the reflective surfaces that are desired to remain
bright while adjacent surfaces are given a contrasting satin appearance. |
